The company in its present form has existed since 1948, and was managed by Louis Schellen for the first 25 years, after which he was succeeded by his son Jacques Schellen. As of 2004, the company has been run by his grandson Alec Schellen with the accumulated experience of three generations behind him.
Over the years, Schellen Shipping has acted as agents for numerous shipping lines to destinations as diverse as the Western and Eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf . As the need for specification has imposed itself over the years, Schellen Shipping now focuses its services on the Mediterranean, representing Mundial RoRo (a vehicle-carrying service to Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Syria)
